Eyebrow Tattoo Techniques Explained

At Rise & Shine Permanent Makeup Studio, we customize your brows based on your skin type, age, desired style, and natural hair growth pattern. Here are the main techniques we use:

Microblading

What it is: A manual hand tool creates fine, hair-like strokes that mimic natural brow hairs.
Best for: Normal to dry skin with sparse or thinning brows.
Look: Very natural, soft and feathered — perfect if you want your brows to look like real hair.
Notes: Heals softer and lighter; may need annual touch-ups to keep the strokes crisp.

Nanoblading

What it is: Similar to microblading, but uses an ultra-fine digital machine needle for even more precision.
Best for: All skin types, including more delicate or mature skin.
Look: Hyper-realistic hair strokes that stay crisper longer than traditional microblading.
Notes: Gentler on the skin, ideal for mature clients.

Microshading (or Powder Brows)

What it is: A digital machine gently implants pigment in tiny dots, creating a soft shaded effect.
Best for: Oily or combination skin, or anyone wanting a soft makeup look.
Look: Like a light powder fill — soft, airy, and blended.
Notes: Longer-lasting and lower maintenance than hair stroke methods.

Combination Brows (Hybrid)

What it is: A mix of hair strokes at the front and shading through the arch and tail.
Best for: Clients who want natural definition with a bit more fullness.
Look: Natural hair strokes plus a hint of soft powder for shape and depth.
Notes: Great for women with sparse or thinning tails who still want a natural start.

Bottom line:

  • Hair stroke methods (microblading/nanoblading) = ultra-natural, hair-like results

  • Shading methods (microshading/powder) = soft, filled-in makeup look

  • Combination = the best of both
